You did P90X  and got no results?

I am asked frequently if programs like P90X and Insanity work. The simple answer is yes they do work, but there is and underlying part to how they work. It's not just about the workout. You see most want to have the results they see in the infomercials. However they don't always want to do what is necessary to get those results. Often when you mention to them that the program is 6-7 days a week and that you have to eat right is when you reveal their true desire.
I often tell people the workouts are the easy part, and most that start find this to be true after a couple of weeks. The hard part is the nutrition. When someone tells me they are not getting results, the first thing I think of is nutrition. You see when I started P90X I had the same mentality as some do. I'm putting in the work so I can eat how I want. I got results, just not astounding results. I have seen this time and again by people I know. You justify your nutrition by the hard workouts your doing, then get upset because the results are not what was expected. The hard work in the workout is canceled out by the poor nutrition. They go hand in hand. Poor nutrition is not just about eating the wrong stuff . It may be a situation that you are eating the right kind of food but you may not be eating enough. I worked with someone once that laughed when I told them they were not eating enough and needed to eat more. It's very simple 500-1000 calories in a day is not enough to fuel your body with a program like P90X or Insanity, and probably not enough for most regimens. You must eat to lose weight, fuel your body for your workouts.
The reality of any good program is that nutrition is the key. Like the saying goes "you can't look like a million bucks if your eating off the dollar menu." After doing the Ultimate Reset and continuing to eat very similar I can tell you nutrition is so key. You must put in equally hard work on your nutrition.
Your nutrition and the workouts are the one two punch in the battle of the bulge. To have a great body you have to have both.
So does P90X work? Yes, the real question is... how are you going to work to make it work for you?

Ultimate Reset Day 6

Today was day 6 of the Ultimate Reset. Had a really good morning, I got up and had a good amount of energy. I went for a 3 mile walk/run which ended up being more of a run/walk. I felt so good running, I had to make myself back off because I didn't want to over do it to where I would want or need a recovery drink.
I have to say I am loving the menu and really starting to love cooking. The menu has some simple things that are just full of flavor. It makes me want to look up more vegan food recipes. Its amazing how different food choices make you feel. I still plan on getting some meat and a little dairy back in, but I could honestly get use to eating this way. The only thing I miss is my normal Shakeology. I have been enjoying the tropical vegan Shakeology and my new chocolate vegan Shakeology should be here in a few days.
Overall I have to say I am loving the Reset so far, detox week starts on Monday.  In case you are wondering, YES I miss working out but the rest has been nice and needed. This break and the Reset should lead to better performance and results.

Ultimate Reset Day 4

It's been a little while since I last blogged but here goes. At last we met I was in the midst of a hybrid of P90X/Insanity/P90X2 and a little of Asylum mixed in. I made it through to day 84. I ended it a little early to start a new journey... The Ultimate Reset. For those that don't know about it, it's one of Beachbody's newest programs based on nutrition.
What is The Ultimate Reset? Simply its a 21 day program in three phases designed to improve your energy, digestion, complexion, nutrient absorption, and increased clarity and focus. During the program you will also be nurturing your mind, body and spirit through conscious lifestyle choices and techniques.
The Three Phases

Reclaim
In PHASE 1, you Reclaim your body, balancing its inner chemistry and preparing it for change—much like soap loosens grime.

Release
In PHASE 2, you Release the toxic compounds that are clogging your cells and stored within your tissues—like a purifying surge of clear water that flushes away years of impurities.

Restore
In Phase 3, you Restore your metabolism to maximum efficiency, while fortifying your body with the nutrients, enzymes, and probiotics it needs to maintain healthy performance in the future.

I started this journey with a friend that wanted to give it a go and asked for motivation and support. So far we are on day 4 and doing great. The adjustment hasn't been bad for me, minimal headaches mainly from being off any pre-workout supplements. I am really enjoying the program thus far and enjoying all the cooking and food prep. The first three days for my friend have been a bit rough. The main problem has been inconsistent diet. I eat fairly clean and that has helped. However if you are use to eating what ever you may adjust way different.
The menu has been fairly easy to prepare, and the food has been flavorful and good. After today there is no more dairy. I have been pleasantly surprised by what I have made so far. At this point I probably will not be buying store bought dressing anymore, or microwave products unless I'm in a real pinch like traveling or something of that nature. I am starting to like to cook and feel I am a better and smarter grocery shopper. All in all it will be worth the journey.
It does take some time and some smart shopping but hey anything worth having takes work. Whats Tony Horton say "Rome wasn't built in a day and neither was your body".
